On Sunday 8th October, Scorpions RFC held their 3rd annual 7-a-side tournament for Under-16 and Under-18 girls. The tournament, sponsored by Hertfordshire Fire & Rescue Service, attracted over 200 girls ranging in age from 12 to 18, with teams from Aylesbury, Beckenham, High Wycombe, Anstey, South Leicester, Camberley, Oxford, Fullerians, Peterborough, Saracens, Brixham, Milton Keynes and, of course, Scorpions.

The Under-16 section was split into 4 groups, with Aylesbury, Camberley, Peterborough and Scorpions qualifying as group winners. In the semi-finals, Camberley beat new club Aylesbury 33-0 and Scorpions edged Peterborough 21-14. Scorpions won the final 26-5 with tries from Chloe Allcorn, Kosi Abdulai, Cait Taylor and Ollie Poore. Captain Nicky Cameron converted 3 of 4.

The Under-18 section consisted of teams from Chinnor, Oxford, Fullerians, High Wycombe, Saracens, Scorpions, Milton Keynes and Beckenham. Saracens won the final by beating a combined Chinnor & Oxford team 21-7.

The Chief Fire Officer for Hertfordshire, Steve Seaber, was on hand to present the winners shields to Lorna Cameron, Secretary of Scorpions RFC and Margaret Alphonsi, Saracens under-18 captain.
